Hey ppl,
I moved my older AMD 6000+ machine into our bedroom for the wife to use. When I did I put the old X1950XT 512MB back in it, and a linksys wireless card. everything else stayed the same.
It has an ASUS M2N-SLI deluxe motherboard, 4GB of corsair ram. and windows 7 released home prermium 64bit.
The problem I am having is sometimes when the computer sleeps which I’m using S3 so it basically shuts off but keeps ram powered I think? Anyway MOST of the time its fine, you wiggle the mouse it comes back up instantly
But twice now, I woke up and the video card fan was screaming at 100%, the hard drive light was lit solid and the power light was on solid, the system had to be forced to shut off. Some things in the bios setup also changed such as hard drive sequence, and one time the date reset to default.
The reason I suspect the video card is ATI’s drivers for older cards have been questionable for awhile now, as well as up to a month ago there was a GTX-260 in the same system., and it never had this problem.
ANY opinions or ideas completely welcome. I’m probably going to swap in a new video card in the near future, its just the bios settings being randomly changed has me creeped out. I guess its a tossup between the linksys wireless card with its questionable drivers, which I dont even think I was able to get from linksys, Or the video card.
